German carrier Lufthansa flights to UAE have been hit by the pilots’ strike, cancelling its Dubai and Abu Dhabi flights today again.

It cancelled flights to more than 45 destinations including its both flights scheduled from Frankfurt to Dubai and Abu Dhabi and other Gulf countries.

Lufthansa’s flight LH630 was scheduled to depart from Frankfurt today at 13.25 and land in Dubai at 22.35 and its LH618 flight to Abu Dhabi was to take off from the German capital at 12.15 and land in the UAE capital at 21.30, according to the carrier’s website.

Pilots union at the largest European carrier on Tuesday announced this week’s second strike on Thursday (today) and 11th for this year.

Its 36-hour strike earlier this week resulted in more than 1,000 flights to be scrapped and disrupted services to destinations including London, Dubai, Seoul and Buenos Aires. It affected 150,000 of passengers after the cancellation of half of its long-haul flights. Lufthansa said it will operate half of all long-haul flights today also.

Today’s strike has also forced it to cancel long-haul flights to Kuwait, Qatar, India, US, China and other countries.

In order to cope with the pilots’ strike, Lufthansa board has approved plan to expand operations of its budget-flight operations.

Lufthansa has allowed passengers to change or cancel their flights free of charge.
