The Dubai Municipality has warned the public over false advertisements of pest control companies that do not carry any licence from the municipality.

Hisham Abdul Rahman Al Yahya, Head of Public Health Pest Control Section, Public Health Services Department in the municipality, said in a press release: "These companies stick their ads on the doors of flats and in the corridors of residential buildings and other complexes. These ads may deceive the public who will seek the help of these companies to get rid of insects, rodents, termites and other pests in their home, which will result in the risk of using highly toxic pesticides or those not licensed locally."

The municipality called upon the public to first check the companies licensed to operate in the emirate on the website of the municipality's Public Health Services Department or by calling the number of Public Health Pest Control Section. The municipality will send a list of licensed companies or will provide the caller with the information required on any company that the caller wishes to use the services.

In the event of seeking the services of a licensed private pest control company, it is essential to see the employee's identity card before he enters the home. It is a card issued by the Public Health Pest Control Section at Dubai Municipality, which enables him to practice the profession legally, otherwise, it will be considered a violation of the law and it should be reported in this case, the municipality explained.

The official called upon the public to co-operate with Dubai Municipality in reporting any advertisements that generate suspicion or doubt.
