Rolling road closures in Abu Dhabi for cycling tour this weekend

Main roads in the capital will be closed to the public on Friday, 21st October, as cyclists take part in the Abu Dhabi Tour.

The roads will be closed between 1 p.m. and 5.15 p.m. for about an hour at a time, starting by the Emirates Palace.

Cyclists will travel down Khalifa Al Mubarak Street before crossing over to Sheikh Zayed Bridge and into Khalifa City before rounding back through Yas Island.

Sheikh Khalifa Highway will be closed from 3.25 p.m. to 4.25 p.m. as cyclists head towards Saadiyat Island.

They will then detour onto Reem Island by 4 p.m. before heading towards Abu Dhabi Corniche and finishing at Marina Mall at 5.15 p.m. All road closure timings are approximate.

On Saturday, roads in Al Ain will be closed for up to an hour at a time as the third stage of the Abu Dhabi Tour takes place.

Cyclists will begin their race in Al Mutawaa at 12.10 p.m. before cycling to Al Hili, down to Al Jimi then along Shakhbout bin Sultan Street and E30 to Al Khaznah.

The cyclists will circle around Al Khaznah between 2.15 p.m. and 4 p.m. before travelling down the E30, which will be closed to motorists until 4.30 p.m.

At 5.15pm the roads will reopen as cyclists complete the tour with a hill climb at Jabel Hafeet.
