Free parking, new metro and bus timings as RTA unveils Hijri New Year plan

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced the timings of different services during the holiday of the New Hijri Year covering customers’ happiness centers, public car parks, public buses, Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, marine transit modes, and vehicles testing and registration centers.

Moaza Al Marri, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication, RTA Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, said: “Customers’ happiness centers will be off duty during Holiday of New Hijri Year on Sunday October 2 and will resume duty on Monday October 3 2016.

"All paid parking zones in Dubai will be free of charge except for the parking lots of the Fish Market and the Multi-level Parking terminal on Sunday 2nd October 2016, and fees will be reactivated on the Monday 3rd October 2016.”  

Dubai Metro and Tram

Al Marri further said: "On Saturday October 1, the Red Line of Dubai Metro will start service at 5.30am (Express Metro Service) and continue up to 1am (on the following day); and on Sunday October 2nd, from 5.30am to midnight."

The Green Line will operate on Saturday October 1 from 5.50am and continue up to 1am (on the following day), and on Sunday, October 2 from 5.50am to midnight.

Dubai Tram will be operating daily from 6.30am up to 1am (on the following day) and on Friday it will start service at 9am and continue up to 1am (on the following day).

Bus timings
 
Service hours of Dubai Bus on Sunday October 2 2016 will be as follows: Main Bus Stations such at Gold Souk, the service will start at 4.25 am and end at midnight, and at Al Ghubaiba from 4.30am to midnight.

At subsidiary stations, buses will operate at Satwa from 4.57am to midnight, whereas Route C01 will be in operation around-the-clock.

At Al Qusais, buses will operate from 4.40am up to 11.30pm, while at Al Quoz Industrial Station, buses will operate from 5.30am to 11.30pm, and at Jebel Ali Station the bus service will from 5am to 11.30pm.

The Metro Stations Feeder Bus Service at Al Rashidiya, Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Battuta Mall, Abu Hail, Etisalat, and Dubai Mall-Burj Khalifa stations will operate from 5am to 12.20am.

Intercity Buses will be in service as follows: At Main Stations such as Ghubaiba, the service will be running around-the-clock to Jubail, Sharjah, while Abu Dhabi-bound service will be from 5am to 12.25am.

Subsidiary Stations such as Union Square will be operating from 4.30am up to 1.25am (on the following day).

At Al Sabkha Station, intercity bus service will operate from 6.15am to 1.30am (on the following day), and at Deira City Center Station the service will be from 5.35am up to 11.30pm.

At Al Karama Station the service will run from 6.10am up to 10.15pm, whereas at Al Ahli Club Station, the service will start from 6.05am and continue up to 10,25pm. As for external stations such as Al Taawon (Sharjah), the service will run from 5.30am up to 10pm, Fujairah Station will be in service from 5.50am to 9pm, Ajman Station will offer service from 4.30am to 11pm, and Hatta Station will be operating from 5.30am up to 9.30pm,” said Moaza.

Marine transport

Explaining the timing of the marine transit modes, the Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication, said: “The Water Bus will be operating at Marina stations (Marina Mall, Marina Walk, Marina Terrace and Marina Promenade) from Saturday to Thursday from 10am to 11pm.

"On Friday and public holidays marine transit modes offer services from 12pm up to midnight."

She added: “The daily business hours of the Water Taxi service will be from 9am to 10pm.

"Abras' working hours will as follows: At Dubai Creek (Al Ghubaiba Al Sabkha, Baniyas and Dubai Old Souq Stations) from 7am up to 10pm, from Saturday to Thursday, and from 10am to midnight during Fridays and public holidays.

The Blue Abra (Electric Abra) will be operating at Burj Khalifa area from 6pm to 11.30pm.

"At Al Mamzar, Abra will operate from 2pm to midnight. Atlantis Abra will operate from 1pm to 9pm, and the air-conditioned abra at Al Jaddaf, Dubai Festival City will operate from 7am to midnight."

Dubai Ferry will offer scheduled daily services off Al Ghubaiba and Al Marina Stations starting at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 6.30pm.

“As for the working hours of service providers, all centers of partners and service providers will be closed during the Holiday of New Hijri Year on Sunday October 2, and they will be back in service on Monday October 3 2016,” concluded Moaza.
