RTA to auction distinctive plates this month

Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will auction 100 distinctive number plates this month.

Through its 32nd Number Plates Auction, the Licensing Agency, RTA will offer 100 distinctive licensing plates of (G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O and P) codes, comprising four and five-digit plates, in addition to plates for classic cars and motorbikes (code 2).

Registration for the auction starts on April 14 and the auction will begin on Tuesday, April 21 and run for three days.

Mohammed Abdul Kareem Nimaat, Director of Vehicles Licensing, RTA Licensing Agency, said: “The forthcoming online auction is anticipated to be hugely popular as it contains 100 distinguished plates selected to cater to customer needs, and offers customers freedom in selecting their fancied plates in a hassle-free environment.

“To participate in the auction, bidders can register either thorough logging on to RTA website (www.rta.ae), or by visiting any customer service center in Dubai,” he explained.

“Each potential bidder has to deposit a security cheque of Dh5,000 and pay participation fees of Dh110 at a customer service center (Umm Al Ramool, Deira, or Al Tawar Municipal Center). The successful bidder has to settle due amounts within 10 days after the closure of the auction to avoid being blacklisted,” said Nimaat.

A team from RTA’s Call Center will respond to any public inquiries made through toll-free number 8009090 about procedures of participation or payment.
