Sharjah Police has launched an awareness campaign for cars ahead of celebrations of the UAE National Day.

Five new regulations regarding the decorations of cars in the campaign titled, 'A National Day Without Violations and Accidents,' reports Arabic daily Al Bayan.

The campaign aims to educate motorists to ensure they abide by the rules regarding car decorations in celebration of the special day.

Police have placed a comprehensive plan for the purpose, informs Colonel Abdallah Bin Amer, Director of the Central Operations of Sharjah Police.

Motorists are not allowed to change the colour of their cars, they should not overload the cars with passengers, sitting on the car roof is not allowed.

Colouring or tinting of the front window of the car is not allowed and they should not hide or conceal the plate numbers.

Young motorists should not over speed and they should not spray other road users or use banned substances or any type of lights that can harm people.

Parents are urged to ensure the safety of their children while driving.

By setting these regulations, Sharjah police is ensuring that the celebration goes safely without death or injuries.

Additional patrols will be dispatched at various areas that may witness traffic jams.
