School staffer gets death for raping 7-yr-old

A school worker found guilty of raping a seven-year-old student in the school premises has been sentenced to death by the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court.

The demand of the girl's family that the school and the suspect collectively pay them Dh5million for the psychological and physical damages that the child suffered will be forwarded to the court of jurisdiction.

According to court records, the unfortunate incident took place when the student was asked by her teacher to hand over some papers to the administrative office.

While she was on her errand, the suspect grabbed her and took her to the kitchen and molested her. He also threatened her into silence, telling her that he would kill her and her mother if anyone were to learn of the incident.

So the child returned to class and didnt mention her ordeal to anyone.

However, at home one of her aunts noticed her soiled uniform and persuaded her to speak, when she recouted the incident.

Medical reports also confirmed the youngster's claim.

According to the prosecution, the evidence of indictment presented to the court was based on the victim's statement and testimony from her mom and aunt.

Their lawyer stressed that the monetary compensation be paid by the suspect as well as the school because the school had failed in protecting the student.

Meanwhile, the victim's lawyer claimed that the argument was unreasonable because the child changed her statements. At times she said she was molested in the kitchen and later she claimed he misbehaved with her in the corridor.
