Sheikh Mohammed attends President's Cup endurance race

The 160-km race was contested by 128 riders for a cash prize of Dh1.5m and four cars

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, attended on Saturday the President's Cup endurance race held at the Emirates International Endurance Village in Al Wathba.

Also present were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai; Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler and UAE Minister of Finance; Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs; Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, President's Advisor and Chairman of the Emirates Camel Racing Federation and Sheikh Khalid bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Dr Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan won the championship, riding 'Glenmorgan'. He finished first in 6 hours, 21 minutes and 35 seconds.

He was followed by the two times champion and title holder Sultan Al Boloushi who rode 'Cronos', while Fatima Al Marri finished third.

The 160-kilometre race was contested by 128 riders from the UAE and other countries for a cash prize of Dh1.5 million, plus four cars, three of which were presented to the top three winners while the fourth went to the winning team.

Dr Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan dedicated his win to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and to Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President's Representative.

He expressed the pleasure at winning the championship and added that he followed a calculated strategy throughout the race's six stages and was careful not to put much pressure on his horse.
