Shopping for Eid, Diwali gift? Hi-tech bundle deals @ Dh999 or less

With Eid Al Adha less than a week away and overlapping with the ongoing Gitex Shopper, along with Diwali season kicking off next month, retailers are expecting a surge in sales as customers snap up a bargain to fill in the gift hampers.

Mahesh Chotrani, AVP, Jacky’s Electronics, said: “We are expecting bumper Eid and Diwali sales, especially during the last weekend of Gitex with a surge in tourists from other GCC nations who are travelling to Dubai to celebrate the festival and looking to buy gifts for their loved ones.”

“Usually, people window shop the first few days and as we edge closer to Eid, deals will pick up.”

Omar Abushaban, head of operations, Plug Ins said that smartphones, smartwatches and tablets would be the fast movers for gift buying.

He said: “Gifts are usually purchased with a specific budget in mind, and with so many smartphone options now available, there is something now that fits every price range. Also smartwatches, tablets, more versatile items will be snapped up for this very reason.”

With low-end smartphones flooding the market, Neelesh Bhatnagar, CEO of Emax Electronics says that by 2015, he expects every mobile user to hold one such device in his hand.

Meanwhile, those looking to bag a bargain for the gift-buying seasons of Eid Al Adha and Diwali, several old-school mobile companies, along with a few new companies, have upped the game by offering feature-packed smartphones for Dh350 or less.

Samsung has two such offerings at Jumbo Electronics, with the Galaxy Pocket Neo selling for Dh229, while the Galaxy Trend Lite dual sim is being sold for Dh349, with a Dh50 gift voucher by the retailer.

The latter is also being sold by Sharaf DG, with said voucher, plus a Manchester City power bank for fans of the football club.

Those looking to gift their children their first phone may also look at Eurostar’s two Fly models, with the IQ239 dual sim selling for Dh169, while the IQ4415 dual sim is retailing at Dh219.

Other first time phones to look at is Lava’s IRIS 354 dual sim for Dh179 at Sharaf DG, while the Discover 135 and the KKT35 Plus are being bundled at Emax for Dh149. Meanhwile, the XTouch Ocean, bundled with the E-phone, is being sold by Emax for Dh249, with free data transfer thrown in.

While several smartphone options exist in the price range, those who want to think out of the box can fill two gift hampers simultaneously, with both Jumbo and Jacky’s Electronics offering a buy one, get one free offer on XTouch’s XWatchQ at Dh399.

Jumbo also has the Smartwatch 2 for Android that is bundled with a powerbank for Dh599.


Meanwhile, Touchmate is also offering a Dh399 phablet with a free holiday stay for two persons for one night.

If size does matter, then head over to E-City and snap up a Toshiba 24-inch LED TV for Dh599, which comes with a Dh100 gift voucher for another freebie thrown into the hamper.

Dh999 or less

Have family over in India, Emax Electronics is offering you the chance to buy a TV at the Shopper, while they deliver it for free to your loved ones over there. Those with a slightly higher budget can reach for the Videocon 32-inch LED TV for Dh999, which comes with a wireless headset.

E-City also has a few TV deals up for grabs with Toshiba models retailing between Dh699 and Dh899 for 32-inch LED models, while a 40-inch Hisense is going for Dh899.

Meanwhile, Plug Ins has an offer for the S660 smartphone bundled with a LED TV, all for Dh799.
