A hospital in Saudi Arabia has been sued by the family of a 10-year-old girl who was accidentally shot while playing on top of her house and was told by doctors to “live with the bullet” inside her, a newspaper reported on Friday.

Ghader Al Wadei was rushed to hospital nearly two weeks ago after she was struck by a stray bullet while playing on the roof of her house in the western town of Taif.

Doctors at King Faisal Hospital stitched the wound and discharged the girl the next day but her family brought her back this week when she complained of severe pain in the back, according to the Arabic language daily Okaz.

“An X-Ray showed my sister had a bullet in her body but doctors said they discharged her two weeks ago thinking she was injured by fireworks,” her brother Ali said.

“We got a second shock when the doctors told us that they cannot do anything about it now and that my sister has to live with the bullet inside her body.”
