A Pakistani taxi driver allegedly targeted worshipers in mosques and robbed them, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

MN, 2,4 is accused of robbing worshipers at the Issa Saleh Al Gurg mosque in Karama in last August.

In the first case, at around 7pm, on August 1, AA, 31- year-old, Indian sales officer, headed to the mosque to perform the Maghrib prayer.

He left his hand bag which contained Dh200 in cash, a mobile phone and ID and bank cards in addition to some portable electronics near him and stood for prayer.

As he finished, he looked around and did not find his bag, so he reported the incident to the police.

In the second case, a 34-year-old Jordanian supervisor headed to the same mosque on August 13 also to perform Maghrib prayer. He was spotted by MN holding a hand bag.
As the Jordanian supervisor was praying, the accused robbed the bag and ran away.

These two worshipers were not the only victims of the 24-year-old driver, as on August 19, a worshiper reported a theft in the same mosque to Al Rifaa police station.

Police arrested MN and found the belongings of the three worshipers with him.

MN stood before the Court of Misdemeanors in the third case.
On September 1, the court sentenced the driver to one month in jail followed by deportation.

The convict was then referred to the Criminal Court for the other cases.

The court will issue its sentence on October 25.

MN is also facing charges of violating the holiness of places of worship.
