Teen causes traffic pile-up that kills mother

An accident allegedly caused by a teenager resulted in a pile-up that claimed the life of a woman driver on Sunday evening.

The 42-year-old Egyptian woman died on the spot when her car crashed into three other vehicles on Sharjah University Road. Her two children aged 12 and 2 are critically injured, according to media reports. At least eight other drivers were also hurt in the mishap.

A 17-year-old Jordanian, who does not have a driving licence, allegedly took a sudden turn on the main road, crashing into a vehicle driven by an Emirati, according to Sharjah Police. This mishap resulted in a pile-up that led to the fatal collision.

An ambulance as well as Anjad patrols rushed to the spot immediately and took control of the situation. The injured were transferred to Al Qasimi Hospital.

Police officials have warned youngsters against taking to the raods without a driving licence and urged parents to discipline their wards.
