A six-month-old baby was rescued from drowning in a hotel’s swimming pool in Ras Al Khaimah on Friday night.

The toddler, of Arab nationality, was left alone near the pool. He had crawled towards the pool and had fallen into it.

The ambulance and rescue unit of Ras Al Khaimah police received a call about the incident and rushed to the spot, said Captain Tariq Sharhan.

The baby had been rescued from the pool by family members and hotel guests and received first aid before being taken to Al Saqr Hospital, where he was initially admitted.

According to staff at the hospital, he was later transferred to Saif bin Ghobash Hospital. His present condition is not clear.

Ras Al Khaimah Police has urged parents not to leave children alone around swimming pools.  “This is the second drowning case that happened in the same place in a short time,” said Captain Tarek.
