Top 100 GCC CEOs: UAE CEOs dominate Top 10

Almost a quarter of the Top 100 GCC CEOs are from the UAE, a new ranking reveals.

Twenty-four CEOs of UAE companies have been ranked among the top 100 GCC business leaders while 6 of them make it to the top 10.

The Top 100 CEOs ranked by Insead Business School and Trends magazine are among the leaders who have been able to sail their proverbial ship cutting through the tsunami of economic troubles not only safely but with élan.

The 100 chief executives were chosen from around 700 companies listed on the GCC stock markets.

Twenty-four CEOs of the UAE companies, including 11 banks, two property firms and one airline, have been recognised for their outstanding performance in the competitive business environment.

The UAE’s status as the financial centre of the region reflects the key role played by the executives in the higher echelons of the corporate world who took their companies to the next level of growth.

Shayne Nelson, Group CEO of Emirates NBD, earned the top spot among all the listed companies studied during the ranking process.

Other top business leaders from the UAE were Mashreq bank CEO Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Dubai Islamic Bank CEO Adnan Chilwan, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank CEO Tirad Al Mahmoud, Emaar Malls Group CEO Nasser Abdulrahman Rafi and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank CEO Ala’a Eraiqat.

Among the top 100, there were 36 CEOs from Saudi Arabia, followed by 24 from the UAE, 21 from Qatar, 8 from Kuwait, 6 from Oman and 5 from Bahrain.
