Two Asian workers died of inhaling toxic gases while working at a Palm Island project on Tuesday, police said.

They were working at boiler room at a project under construction when hazardous gases leaked and killed them, Captain Ali Abdullah Al Naqbi, of the Dubai Police rescue team confirmed.

He said the police received an emergency call and rushed to the site, but the workers were already dead.
Investigations are on to ascertain the cause of the accident.

In a separate incident an Asian driver of a diesel tanker had a miraculous escape with only injuries when his vehicle overturned near a roundabout on Al Manama Street in the Al Aweer area.

The driver identified as AKH was negotiating the roundabout at a high speed when the accident happened, Major Juma Ahmad Butti Al Falasi, Director of Department of Rescue of Dubai Police said.

He said a well-coordinated rescue operation by the police and civil defence teams prevented any catastrophe as the tanker loaded with 4,500 gallons of diesel was safely removed from the area surrounded by high-voltage power lines.
