Traffic jam as car catches fire on Al Khail Road

A car has caught fire on Al Khail Road, according to an eyewitness account, with corresponding traffic building up near the Financial Centre Road exit.

Shuja Mohd Fakruddin said he saw the car blaze around 8am, when he was commuting to work, saying: “As I was approaching the Dubai Mall exit on Al Khail Road, I saw cars slowing down around me. As I approached the exit, that is when I saw a black GMC Yukon SUV on fire.

“The fire appeared to be limited to the front engine of the car, and another vehicle had stopped ahead, with the driver approaching the blaze with a fire extinguisher. No emergency vehicles were on the scene when I left.”

The incident occurred on southbound Al Khail Road, heading towards Jebel Ali.

Commuters are advised to proceed with caution in the area.
