Two men lost their lives in separate accidents that could have been possibly avoided had more caution been exercised. While one drowned in high tide, the other lost his life as he took to racing while skiing.

A young man, who had gone jet-skiing with a group of friends, started to race and suddenly swerved and collided with his friend’s jet ski.

Being the only breadwinner of the family, his mother moved the courts claiming compensation from his friend, reported Arabic newspapers.

The Court of First Instance ordered the friend to pay half the diya (blood money) as the deceased was also responsible for his own death.

The mother has now appealed the Abu Dhabi Court seeking Dh1 million compensation.

Meanwhile, an Indian drowned on Friday morning while he went swimming at a beach in Al Khan area.

The 40-year-old was allegedly pulled in the high tide.

Civil defence team rushed to the site but could not rescue him.

Police have urged residents to check Met reports before venturing into sea.

The sea has been rough over the last few days.

All the beaches in the country have flags placed to alert swimmers about the prevalent conditions.
