UAE and US discuss police training

Abu Dhabi Police and the US Department of Homeland Security recently held discussions on cooperation in police training.

A delegation, headed by Kathy Kraninger, Clerk for the Subcommittee on Homeland Security of the US Senate Appropriations Committee, visited the Abu Dhabi Police Training Department. The delegation was received by Colonel Thani Butti Al Shamesi, Head of the Training Department at Abu Dhabi Police.

During the visit, which were dedicated to the exchange of information, expertise, and methodologies, both parties learned of the others’ techniques and training methods alongside the mechanisms used to implement modern technology within the policing system.

The meeting was attended by Lieutenant Colonel Saleh Saeed Al Amoudi, International Cooperation Training Branch Manager at the Training Department at Abu Dhabi Police. The visiting delegation included Peter Bob, representative of the US Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, and a number of employees from the US Department of Homeland Security. Bill Rutton, a liaison officer for the Department of Homeland Security at the US Embassy in the UAE, also attended the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, Colonel Thani Al Shamesi presented Kathy Kraninger with a commemorative shield.
