More than 1,000 jobs are up for grabs in the UAE as the new shopping mall readies to open its doors in August, 2013, said a senior official.

Speaking to Emirates 24l7, Mohamad El Sabawi, General Manager of Wahat Mili Mall in Al Ain, said the shopping mall will open its doors to customers in August and more than 1,000 staff will be hired by the mall management and the retailers opening shops there.

“The shopping mall will create more than 1,000 jobs – if not 2,000 or more. The mall management will be hiring staff for leasing, management and human resources sections, apart from the 160 retailers opening stores here,” El Sabawi said.

He said recruitment is underway and around 15 to 20 people are being hired for different sections of mall management while security and cleaning units will be outsourced.

The three-level shopping mall offers over 30,000 square metres of leasable area and houses 160 retail units including Géant Hypermarket – which is spread over 6,900 square metres.

Saeed Al Dhaheri, CEO of Wahat Hili Mall, said: “We are excited to be able to relay that the opening date is set for 28th August, 2013. Wahat Hili is currently carrying out the final steps in its start to serving the community and tourists.

“Wahat Hili will be much more than a mall, in terms of shopping, dining, entertainment and convenience; rather, the shopping complex will be a catalyst for further economic growth in Al Ain.

“We expect it to draw 175,000 weekly visitors by the end of 2013, which if achieved and probably exceeded, will mean a boost to the city’s stance as a must-see destination.”

The mall will attract not just the local residents and visitors to Al Ain, but also from the neighbouring Omani cities such as Buraimi.

He said Fitness First, My Play Zone, Jamaica Blue, Jumbo Unwired and number of other retail brands will be opening their doors at the shopping mall. My Play Zone unit will be handed over in March, while remaining tenants will have possession of their leased premises in April and May.
