After the freak hailstorm and downpour that lashed parts of Al Ain city and Abu Dhabi on Monday, the UAE’s Met office has forecast more rainfall on the horizon.

The UAE’s National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) has also issued an alert, warning of low visibility conditions across open areas due to a spike in wind speeds, which will also affect the sea conditions on Tuesday.

In its forecast, the NCMS described the weather as “hazy and hot to very hot in general”, adding that it will be “partly cloudy at times over some areas, with a possibility of some convective clouds formation over eastern and southern areas by afternoon maybe rain.”

The NCMS further stated: “Light to moderate winds in general, freshening at times, will blow dust and sand over exposed areas and may reduce the horizontal visibility. Moderate sea becoming rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.”

Visibility levels have dropped to 1,500m in Al Hamra area of Ras Al Khaimah, with the NCMS warning of southeasterly winds.

The weather on Wednesday will continue in similar pattern, with temperatures reaching highs of 49 degrees Celsius, with the NCMS stating: “Hazy and hot to very hot weather over most areas in general, partly cloudy at times over some areas, with a probability of some convective clouds formation over eastern and southern areas by afternoon maybe rain.

“Moderate winds in general, freshening at times causing blowing dust and sand especially during morning time over the exposed areas and may reduce the horizontal visibility.”
