Drizzle in parts of Dubai, cloudy weekend coming

Early risers in Dubai were pleasantly surprised when they were greeted with slight drizzle. An Emirates 24|7 reader who lives in Dubai's Silicon Oasis sent a message that it drizzled in her neighbourhood around 4:30am today.

So, can we expect a cloudy and pleasant weekend? The National Center of Meteorology and Seismology forecasts a cloudy weekend for sure. It forecasts "partly cloudy weather at times. The amount of clouds will increase over some northern and eastern areas. Winds will be moderate in general, may freshen at times and blowing dust especially towards west."

The sea will be moderate in general, becoming rough in the northern Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and North Oman sea.

Relative humidity will increase during night and early morning.

On Wednesday mid-afternoon, UAE residents were taken by surprise when cloud cover increased over their heads and people were caught in the light drizzle in parts of Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.

UAE's official weatherman, NCMS, had earlier predicted that the sky would be partly cloudy at times, with the amount of clouds increasing over some western areas and islands, with a chance of rain.

Though it was more of a drizzle than rain, the UAE residents welcomed the drop in temperatures, thanks to the overcast sky. The evening was extremely pleasant. The mercury dropped down from the forties to 39 degree C on Wednesday.
