The strong winds and dust storms will reduce in the next few days in the UAE.

While temperatures dropped by 6°C across the UAE because of the winds, they will start to increase again.

A sheet of sand had engulfed the UAE, reducing visibility considerably, the weatherman has advised motorists to exert caution on the roads as the situation is predicted to continue for three days.

The NCMS has advised residents to avoid heading to the beach this weekend due to the deteriorating weather conditions.

“The sea will remain ‘rough to very rough’ today, ‘rough’ tomorrow and ‘rough to very rough’ on Friday,” the official said.

“We also advise asthma patients to stay indoors and avoid exposure to the dust,” he added.

“The current condition is created by the north westerly winds that have emerged due to low pressure in Iran and high pressure over the Arabian Peninsula, causing the dust to rise.”

It is going to be windy, with the NCMS recording “60km/hr over the sea and 45km/hr over the land.”

The temperature is set to drop to “31-35 degree Celsius along the coast and 36-40 degree Celsius in the interiors”.

Low visibility has also been recorded “today in Dubai, and is set to deteriorate further”.

'Emirates24|7' readers have also reported low visibility on roads, with traffic moving at a slow pace due to the hazy conditions.

“It’s tough to drive now and most motorists are driving slowly,” confirmed a reader.

There were conflicting reports of whether it was a sand storm or not. “I first thought that it was a sand storm, but now, it just looks dusty,” another reader added.
