Video: Blaze chars 11 levels of Sharjah tower

A 48-storey building under construction in Sharjah was hit by fire which charred 11 levels before it was brought under control by the civil defence.

The blaze which struck the tower in Buhairah area at around 11 am damaged the front of 11 floors but caused no casualties, Emirat Alyoum daily said.

Civil defence units rushed to the scene and battled the fire for several hours before brining it under control.

The paper said police were investigating the cause of the blaze, adding that it an 82-second film showing the fire was supplied by a reader.
