A woman who attacked her ex-husband at his workplace has been ordered to pay a compensation of Dh50,000 by the Civil Court in Abu Dhabi.

According to reports in the local media, the case dates back to when the wife filed for divorce claiming that her husband used to beat her, threw her out of her home and refused to pay for any of her expenses.

Accordingly, the court granted her the divorce, requesting the husband to pay alimony for her and their child, a daughter.

Prosecutors reportedly said that the husband didn’t pay the alimony, so his ex-wife went to his work place and assaulted him in front of his colleagues.

She insulted him and cursed him in Arabic and English. She then caught him by his clothes and dragged him in front of staff then slapped him, prosecutors said.

After the incident, the husband lodged a complaint against his ex-wife.

This was referred to the Court of Misdemeanours.

She has also received a suspended jail sentence to one month in jail and has been fined Dh700, in addition to the compensation.
