Woman accused of forging iPhone application

A Filipina forged her employer’s signature on du application of an iPhone 4 service and set benefiting from an offer limited to companies, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

SW, 31, saleslady claimed she is the marketing manager of a company owned by Abdullah Ahmad and got the iphone 4 service and set on the company’s name.

Sayed Zaker, 38, Pakistani, general accountant, testified that a month earlier the accused asked him to supply her with the company’s bank statement. “As I refused, she sought a statement from a branch company. The secretary at the branch company told me that the accused asked her for a bank statement. She also told me that SW has obtained an iPhone services and line in the company’s name.”

Zaker double checked with the du and found out that there was an application signed by the company’s director. The later denied signing on the application… so the incident reported to the police.

Initially, SW denied the accusation but later admitted to forging the signature of the company’s director, he testified.

Surish Kumar, 48, another general accountant testified that SW told him about a promotional offer of du regarding iPhone. “She asked me if I am interested in grabbing such an offer…but I was not…Later, I knew that she has got one by forging the director’s signature on the application.”

Mohammed Aref, 23, Pakistani, sales executive, testified that in last December the accused called him and introduced herself as Marketing Manager of a company and that she needs a Sim card of a mobile phone. Ï sent her the forms via email and she sent it back with a photo copy of the passport of the company’s owner and the trade licence. The application was signed by the company’s owner. 

“As we checked the existence of the company…the service and the iphone 4 was supplied…Her employer has later asked for the disconnection of the service,” he testified.

SW confessed to forging the signature of her employer and said that she wanted to take advantage of the du’s offer which was limited only to companies.

However, she claimed that Sayed Zaker was aware of her intention and that he agreed. 

The Court adjourned the case until May 11 for verdict.
