Abu Dhabi cops release video of US woman's killer

A 37-year-old American kindergarten teacher was stabbed to death in Boutique Mall on Abu Dhabi's Reem Island on Monday.

The Abu Dhabi Police has uploaded the CCTV footage of the suspect on YouTube. The short clip shows how the assailant, whose gender is still to be identified, and who has been dubbed as the 'reem Island Ghost', fled the scene following the altercation that took place inside the washroom of a shopping mall, wearing an 'abaya', black gloves and the face-covering veil known as 'niqab'.

The Ministry of Interior urged the public to call 8002626 to provide any information related to the circumstances and details of the case that may help the investigation efforts.

American woman targeted by killer: newspaper

The 37-year-old American teacher who was murdered in a shopping mall on Abu Dhabi’s Reem Island was targeted by the unknown killer who was hiding a knife inside a magazine, a newspaper reported on Thursday.
 
The Arabic language daily Al Bayan, quoting a source at the Boutique Mall’s management, said the murder took place between 2:15 and 2:30 pm, when the victim was shopping at the mall that is only a few blocks away from where she lived.
 
“She went to use the toilet and the killer followed her….while going to the toilet after the victim, the killer took a magazine from a shop and concealed the knife which was used in murdering the American woman,” the source told the Dubai-based daily.

Woman dies after public toilet fight in Abu Dhabi

An American woman succumbed to fatal injuries following a fight (according to witnesses) in a ladies public toilet of a shopping mall on Reem Island in Abu Dhabi on Monday.

The woman is seen wearing an abaya, black gloves and a face cover.

According to Colonel Dr. Rashid Mohammad Borshid, Head of Criminal Investigation Department, Abu Dhabi Police, the 37-year-old victim, A B R, was a school teacher.

She was reportedly stabbed with a sharp tool, which was later confiscated by police.

He said the cause of the fight is still unknown and that the suspect fled the scene immediately after committing the crime. Investigations are still underway to identify the suspect’s identity and gender, he added.

Colonel Dr. Borshid, meanwhile, said the victim’s 11-year-old twins are being taken care of by Community Police. “The Community Police will be providing the children with shelter and other needs pending the arrival of their father (the victim’s ex-husband) from abroad. The father will be received by the Community Police, who will also cater to the needs of the victim’s family,” he added.

The woman was rushed to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, but could not be rescued. Colonel Dr. Borshid said, “Abu Dhabi Police will spare no effort to unveil this heinous crime and bring the culprit to justice.”
