Woman on trial in RAK for having two husbands

An Arab woman is on trial in Ras Al Khaimah on charges of having two husbands at the same time, which is prohibited in Islam. 

The woman’s second husband filed a complaint saying he had discovered his wife is already married and has not been divorced.

He told court that he found out about the second husband when a man stopped them in a public place in the northern emirate and claimed he is the woman’s husband, adding that the man produced marriage documents and asked his wife to accompany him to his home country. 

According to the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej, the woman submitted documents to court proving her first marriage was illegal.
