World’s largest book - at 1,500kg - lands in Dubai

One of the UAE’s most prestigious shopping malls has been honoured with the placement of world’s largest book called ‘This is Muhammad’.

The largest book measures 5m x 8.06m (16.40ft x 26.44ft), weighs approximately 1,500 kg (3,306 lb) and consists of 429 pages. The book was unveiled by Mshahed International Group in Dubai on February 27, 2012, and is now on display at Dubai’s Arabian Centre mall.

Over 50 people took part in the construction of the book which is titled ‘This is Muhammad,’ and is a compilation of stories highlighting the lifetime achievements of Islam’s Prophet as well as the positive influence of Islam on the international and humanitarian scene.

The book was executioned by Mshahed International Group and was ideated by Dr. Mohamed Saeed Alawlaqi. The book was created over a period of nine months. The book is made from paper and felix, while the cover and base are made from titanium.

Speaking on the occasion, Tim Jones, Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are overwhelmed to announce that the biggest book has been placed in Arabian Centre. It is an honour to be chosen for the placement of the book as we cater to Arabian audience at large. We would urge the public to utilise the opportunity to come and experience the biggest book in the World.”

He added: “This initiative comes in line with our messaging which aims at providing the best experience to our customers. We make sure that apart from great shopping experience, we provide much more to our customers with extra activities and initiatives.”

The book was placed in Arabian Centre on April 15, 2013, and will be available there until May 30, 2013.
