The Embassy of Yemen in Abu Dhabi today (Monday) flew the Yemeni flag half-mast to mark the UAE's Commemoration Day (Martyrs Day).

The ceremony was attended by the Yemeni Foreign Minister Riad Yassine, Acting Charge d'affaires of the Yemeni Embassy, Abdullah Abdullah Al Faqih, Yemeni Consul-General, Ahmed Ali Al Dohab, Advisor Sultan bin Saleh Ahmed Al Bakeri and the embassy staff.

In statements following the ceremony, the Yemeni foreign minister expressed his appreciation of the role being played by the UAE within the Arab Coalition's Operation Restoring Hope in Yemen.

He thanked the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the UAE's continuous support for Yemen and interest in preserving the country's security and stability, empowering  Yemen's legitimate government and defending the causes of Arabs.

Yasine announced that Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi gave directive to build a memorial in Yemen in honour of the Emirati martyrs for their sacrifices for Yemen.

"We take pride in the efforts being made by our Emirati brothers who are with us in the effort to save Yemen, our beloved country," the Yemeni foreign minister said, adding that in record time, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the whole Arab Coalition, were able to save Yemen from a ‘dark tunnel.’

He further described the UAE as a model in the field of humanitarian aid and stressed that it is making huge efforts to bring life in Yemen to normal, preserve security and reconstruct government and presidential institutions.

The Yemeni foreign minister concluded by saying, "No words can commend the role of the UAE. It is enough pride and honour for us that the UAE brave martyrs sacrificed their lives in defence of human values and principles. Their blood will always stimulate further work for further glory for the country."
