Zayed initiative to do 500 heart surgeries in Egypt

The "Zayed Giving Initiative" will conduct 500 open-heart surgeries in Egypt during the next phase under the supervision of Emirati-Egyptian hospital in collaboration with the General Women's Union.

The initiative is led by the Emirati heart specialist Dr. Adel Al Shamri and a number of senior Emirati and Egyptian doctors and surgeons in addition to international volunteers.

The initiative is aimed at alleviating the suffering of patients with heart disease in children and the elderly through the provision of medical, surgical and preventive services to the needy in various Egyptian governorates.

UAE Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Mohammed bin Nakhira Al Dhahiri stressed the close relationship between the two countries in various fields, especially in the medical, pointing out that the cooperation between academic, voluntary and humanitarian institutions present an excellent model for joint action.

For his part, the Egyptian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Tamer Mansour hailed efforts of the UAE leadership and people in the field of humanitarian work in various countries around the world praising the leading role of "Zayed Giving Initiative" .

He also emphasized that the UAE under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is a role model of humanitarian giving and is keen to activate the joint work in the health, education and economic fields.

Emirati Heart Surgeon Dr. Adel Al Shamri, Chief Executive of the Zayed Giving Initiative, and Chairman of the Emirati-Egyptian volunteer medical team said that more than 500 Open-heart surgeries will be performed during the next phase in addition to the establishment of specialized medical centers in many Egyptian universities.
