Fire in Sharjah Industrial Area warehouses

A fire has been reported in Sharjah Industrial Area 3.

The fire that began in a warehouse at about 9.15am this morning has reportedly spread to adjoining factories and warehouses even as Civil defence personnel from Sharjah and Ajman have reached the scene and are trying to bring it under control.

The cause and an estimate of damages in today’s fire are not known yet, but there have no reports so far of any casualties or injuries.

“The fire has now spread to out factory,” said a worker in Al Fakhamah Furniture Industry, who said 40 employees working in his factory quickly rushed out after they realised that a neighbouring warehouse was on fire.

According to eyewitnesses, several warehouses in the vicinity store flammable material including furniture and furnishings.

Earlier this week, 11 shops were gutted on Sunday in the early morning fire at an industrial area in Sharjah.

According to a storekeeper who spoke on condition of anonymity, at least Dh50 million worth of goods could have been destroyed in that incident.
