General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Chairman of the Executive Council, has stressed the need for energising the capacities of citizens in the emirate to contribute to creation of active transformation in the economic base in the emirate.

The remark was made during the Executive Council meeting, chaired by Sheikh Mohammed.

Present was Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council.

The meeting discussed proposals on mechanisms of developing the housing sector in the emirate of Abu Dhabi to enhance performance of the sector and facilitate submission of housing applications, and loans for citizens, to ensure social stability for the Emirati families.

The council has been briefed on a survey about the practical phase of employments of citizens, which had been given attention by the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince in a meeting held last June.

He ordered the employment of 6,000 Emiratis in different public departments and agencies in the emirate.

The Abu Dhabi Emiratisation (Tawteen) Council had implemented the directives of Sheikh Mohammed as cited by the report of the Council, which shows it has so far employed 5,763 UAE nationals, and work is underway to employ the rest.

The Executive Council endorsed the payment of new housing loans to 1,367 citizens for private houses in the emirate of Abu Dhabi at cost Dh2.763 billion.

The new endorsement complements the endorsement of Dhs7 billion as a budget for the Housing Project of Citizens, which was announced by the Executive Council in its last meeting.

The move is a translation of keenness of the leadership to provide good living conditions and appropriate accommodation to Emiratis to ensure social stability for their families.

The Council also discussed the pricing of areas, which have been added to the residential areas in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, as per specified and affordable measures.

It called on competent authorities in the emirate to assist and sponsor the handicaps through exempting them from payment of some government services.

The Council was also briefed on a proposal by the Department of Municipal Affairs on issuance of the building licences, which take long time.

A plan has been set to reduce the duration of issuance of the building licence from 55 days to 30 days. Agreements between the municipalities and competent government authorities will be signed to this effect.

The council also discussed the main health sewerage projects in Abu Dhabi in line with the programme of construction of the strategic tunnel at cost Dh2.75 billion. The project is also part of Abu Dhabi Plan 2030.

It also discussed the budget performance report of Abu Dhabi government in the third quarter of 2011. Wam
