Gen. Mohamed, Algerian leader hold talks

Visiting Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UA.E Armed Forces, General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Thursday held talks with President Abdelaziz Bouteflika of Algeria on best ways to enhance bilateral ties in social, economic, trade and developmental fields to realise mutual interests of the two countries and their people.

They also discussed issues of common concern and the latest developments in the Arab region. The meeting also stressed the importance of continuous coordination and cooperation in other sectors.

During the talks, which took place at the Presidential Residence and were attended by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, President Bouteflika welcomed Sheikh Mohamed and expressed his hope that his visit would help deepen the bilateral ties.

Sheikh Mohamed conveyed the regards of the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Algerian president and his best wishes of further progress and prosperity for Algerian leadership and people.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi affirmed that the U.A.E. and Algeria were maintaining strong, progressive fraternal ties aimed at achieving the goals common to both the countries and the whole region.

He said that the U.A.E., led by Sheikh Khalifa, is keen to advance bilateral relations and joint action with Algeria in all domains to achieve the aspirations of the two countries for development and progress in economic, social, academic and other sectors.

On his part, the Algerian leader expressed satisfaction at the ongoing progress in the U.A.E.-Algeria ties in all domains, emphasising his country's sincere desire to elevate these ties to serve the interests of the two countries and their people.

The Algerian president asked Sheikh Mohamed to convey his greetings to President Khalifa and his wishes for continued progress and prosperity for the U.A.E.

Sheikh Mohammed and his host took stock of the latest developments in the Arab, regional and international arenas and exchanged views on a variety of issues of common interest.

Earlier today, upon his arrival at the Houari Boumediene International airport, Sheikh Mohamed was welcomed by the Speaker of the Council of Nation (Upper House of Parliament), Abdelkader Bensalah, Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra, and ministers of finance, energy, and industry as well as a number of senior government officials
