Gen. Mohammed applauds UAE scholars

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, underscored today the crucial role of scholars in preserving cohesion of the community.

Sheikh Mohammed made his remarks while receiving today at Al Bahr Palace a group of 11 Emirati Bachelor and Master’s degree students who graduated from Morocco's Mohammad V University Agdal and joined the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments (GAIAE) as preachers. 

They were accompanied by Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Director General of the GAIAE.

Sheikh Mohammed congratulated them, wishing them successful career in spreading the tolerance of Islam, its fine values and noble morals.

 ''Your role in the State is significant and it is not less than any other sciences as your role and message are to preserve the cohesion and happiness of society,'' Sheikh Mohammed said while addressing the first batch of Emirati preachers.

''Enlightening Muslims of their rights and duties, spreading sciences of Islam and its tolerant goals away from extremism intolerance and fanaticism are the backbone of stability and security of any community,'' Sheikh Mohammed stressed.

President of Tanzania

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, today received at Al Bahr Palace the visiting President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the President of Tanzania, hoping the visit would further strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries in the light of interest of leadership in both countries.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi stressed keenness of the UAE led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan on developing the relations with the friendly African countries through increasing investments to achieve mutual interest.

Sheikh Mohammed and President Kikwete exchanged views on the relations and stressed the importance of developing them, especially in the areas of economy and investment. They also discussed the latest regional and international developments and issues of mutual interest.

For his part, President of Tanzania expressed his pleasure about visiting the UAE and meeting Sheikh Mohamed, stressing interest of his country to bolster the bilateral relations.

General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, Sheikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Etihad Airways, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, a number of Sheikhs and Amel Al Qubaisi, First Deputy Speaker of the FNC.

British parliamentary delegation

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received on Monday at Al Bahr Palace a visiting British parliamentary delegation.

The delegation of seven members of the British Parliament includes three members of the Conservative Party and one member of the Liberal Democrat Party, both of which form the Government Coalition in Britain; and three members of the opposition Labour Party.  The Labour members include the shadow defence minister and the shadow Minister for the Middle East.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the British MPs, hailing the historic, deep, strong bilateral ties in various fields. He affirmed the keenness of the UAE wise leadership to support and expand these relations to serve the best mutual interest of the friendly countries and peoples.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of intensifying visits and contacts between the two countries, particularly visits of parliamentary delegations, so as to discuss ways of taking bilateral ties to new heights so as to portray the direct vivid image of the strength of bonds between the Emirati and British peoples and explore available opportunities for further bolstering bilateral ties and to voice different points of view.

Sheikh Mohammed briefed the British MPs on the UAE's vision under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan  to achieve inclusive development and more developmental achievements.

The visiting delegation also heard the UAE's point of view on a variety of topics of mutual concern.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed latest regional and international developments and a broad range of issues of common interest.

For their part, the British MPs expressed their delight at visiting the UAE and meeting with senior officials to familarise themselves with the progress the UAE has made in all walks of life, notably the UAE parliamentary experiment. They affirmed the UK's keenness to enhance growing bonds of friendship and cooperation with the UAE, praising its vital role in the international scene and its progress under its wise leadership.

The two sides also asserted the importance of bilateral cooperation and consultation in parliamentary affairs and exchange of experiences and experiments for improving parliamentary performance.
