Gen. Mohammed, Polish leader hold talks

General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, held talks today afternoon at Al Mushrif Palace with the visiting Polish President, Bronislaw Komorowski.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the visitor and his entourage, saying that he hoped that the visit would further contribute to strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation  between the UAE and Poland.

They discussed  the prospects for further cooperation, noting  the importance of developing  relations to serve  mutual interests and open a  wider scope for the public and private sectors to harness economic and investment opportunities. Both sides said that they are looking forward to more coordination and cooperation so as to expand economic partnership and arrange for exchange visits between officials of the two countries.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi said the UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is keen on establishing balanced and effective relations with different countries worldwide based on mutual respect, joint cooperation and friendship, adding that the UAE is looking forward to developing relations with Poland in all fields.

He added that the visit of the Polish President to the UAE would enhance relations between the two countries and consolidate the economic and investment partnership.

For his part, the Polish President expressed his pleasure at visiting the UAE and his satisfaction with the progress of bilateral relations, noting that his country is interested in strengthening the mechanisms for cooperation. He added that Poland had enjoyed stability and economic growth in recent years.

He congratulated the UAE on winning the bid to host Expo 2020 in Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed and the Polish President exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, as well as issues of mutual interest. They stressed the importance of international cooperation to ensure peace, security and stability in the region and the world at large.

They also attended the signing of a number of agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) between the UAE and Poland on a protocol to amend the convention for the avoidance of double taxation, and on prevention on fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income and capital. An MoU on sports was signed to encourage cooperation among sports institutions and the exchange of expertise and visits.
A  Letter of Intent was signed by the General Headquarters of UAE Armed Forces and the Polish Ministry of Interior on training of the border guards.

Sheikh Mohammed later hosted a banquet in honour of the Polish President and his delegation.

The talks were attended by Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in the Eastern Region, Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative, Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chief of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Executive Council Member, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and a number of other Sheikhs and ministers. 

Also present were Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, a number of senior armed forces' officers, senior officials, the UAE Ambassador to Poland, Asim Mirza Al Rahma, and the Polish Ambassador to the UAE, Adam Krzymowski.
