Approves new structure of Smart Government

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, has issued Executive Council Resolution No. 27 of 2015 approving the new organisational structure of Dubai Smart Government, DSG.

Pursuant to the Resolution, the Director-General of DSG is authorised to issue directives to carry out the provisions of the resolution and fulfill the organisation’s responsibilities.

In addition to the Director General’s Office, the new organisational structure of the DSG includes the Consultative Council, Corporate Support Services and Internal Auditing. Under the new structure, the organisation is comprised of two main divisions: Strategy and Customer Experience, and Technology and Solutions.

The Strategy and Customer Experience division, which is responsible for setting strategy and ultimate customer experience through customer engagement, features four separate departments: Strategy and Innovation, Customer Experience, Customer Relations Management and Marketing and Corporate Communication.

The second division, Technology and Solutions, is responsible for the development and implementation of best practices, infrastructure, applications and innovation. This division includes five departments: Infrastructure, Smart Services, Government Resources Planning Services, Information Security and Information Analysis.

The Executive Council Resolution No. 27 of 2015 enables Dubai Smart Government to carry out its responsibilities in building a knowledge-based community by supporting Dubai Government’s smart transformation and helping government departments optimally utilise their resources and provide innovative smart services.

The resolution also aims to enhance the operational efficiency of DSG’s departments and sections and ensure alignment with both DSG Strategy 2014-2017 and Dubai Plan 2021.

DSG is tasked with developing strategies required for enabling Dubai Government’s shift to a smart government through the provision of high-quality customer-focused smart services for individuals and businesses. In addition, DSG plays a key role in promoting the adoption of smart services in government departments.

DSG Director-General, Ahmed Mohammed bin Humaidan, said that "Dubai Smart City", the slogan chosen by Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, will be adopted as DSG’s own slogan in the next phase of its operations. Bin Humaidan said that sustaining Dubai’s growth and achievements will require a robust Smart Government guided by an effective strategic plan.

Bin Humaidan also thanked the Crown Prince of Dubai for his steadfast support for the government’s smart transformation goals.

The DSG Director-General said the new organisational structure will better empower the organisation to keep pace with rapid developments taking place in the country and enhance its ability to provide innovative smart solutions that can accelerate Dubai government’s transformation into a smart government.
