Hamdan orders Dubai Strategic Plan 2020

Keeping pace with the ambitious vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai to boost the development march of the UAE across all sectors, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has given directives to start preparations for 'Dubai Strategic Plan 2020' to act as a catalyst for sustained development and raise the bar for excellence in all fields.

Sheikh Hamdan praised what has been achieved of the current strategic plan despite the numerous challenges posed by the successive fluctuations in international economy. Dubai Crown Prince said that the plan has succeeded in setting up a stable framework for action in line with the ambitions the emirate seeks to achieve, which reflects the dedication, hard work and awareness of the people of the UAE.

The framework of the Strategic Plan 2015 and its outcomes will serve as blueprints for formulating the Strategic Plan 2020 in order to build on the successes and plan ahead for the next phase which takes into consideration market needs in local, regional and international standards. The aim is to create a system for action that yields excellence.

Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the importance of team work and inter-departmental cooperation between government and semi government entities to put together an action plan characterised by clear targets. Best practices adopted worldwide will be used to create a plan that is flexible to successfully incorporate new elements at any given time.

"We aim to build a comprehensive and coherent plan that yields further development of the various sectors in the emirate of Dubai and adds to the prosperity of our people," Sheikh Hamdan said. "We are confident that Dubai will continue to be an international role model for development thanks to our wise leadership and the efforts of our people," he added.

Sheikh Hamdan said that Dubai is determined to move ahead with its mega development plans with emphasis on infrastructure in line with the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum whose vision places the future Dubai as one of the top destinations in the world for business and investment.

In this context, Sheikh Hamdan issued directives to the General Secretariat of the Dubai Executive Council to prepare statistics, data and relevant information that will be used to create the first draft that incorporates the needs and requirements of the private sector through direct contact channels that actively engage them as an essential part of Dubai Strategic Plan 2020.

In 2007, Sheikh Hamdan had launched the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 under the theme "Dubai: Where the Future Begins," with an emphasis on streamlining the development of key areas such as the economy, the social sector, infrastructure, land and environment, security, justice and safety, and the public sector.
