Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum receives Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Electric Jeffrey R. Immelt (Wam)
Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, today received Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Electric Jeffrey R. Immelt and his accompanying delegation.
Sheikh Maktoum and Immelt discussed the company’s operations and future plans related to the Middle East and North Africa that will be driven out of the company’s Dubai-based regional headquarters. Sheikh Maktoum stressed that the supportive environment offered by Dubai for businesses reflects its keenness to build positive partnerships with the private sector.
Sheikh Maktoum expressed his appreciation for General Electric’s achievements in the fields of research and innovation, which he said are key focus areas in Dubai’s own growth strategy. Sheikh Maktoum added that this is evident in the innovation-focused initiatives recently launched by Dubai.
Immelt praised the efforts of the Government of Dubai to create a supportive investment environment through a wide range of facilities for start-ups and major companies. The Chairman and CEO of General Electric also spoke highly of the rapid growth that the emirate has achieved, which has made it one of the world’s fastest growing cities.
Present at the meeting were Cabinet Affairs Minister Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi; Director General of the Prime Minister's Office Ohood Al-Roumi; Director-General of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Executive Office Abdulla Al Basti; and a number of senior officials.
General Electric is one of the world’s largest companies specialised in manufacturing and energy, with over 300,000 employees in 170 countries. The company’s Middle East and Africa headquarters is based in Dubai.
