Mohamed bin Zayed receives President of Equatorial Guinea

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, who is currently visiting the UAE.

Sheikh Mohamed welcomed President Mbasogo and his accompanying delegation and expressed his wishes that his visit would succeed in furthering ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting touched on bilateral ties and means to bolster cooperation, particularly in development, economic, investment and energy fields, and to utilise the potentials for strong partnerships among the government and private organisations in the two countries.

Sheikh Mohamed said the UAE, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, attaches great importance to developing relations with Equatorial Guinea, reflecting the country's policy of extending bridges of friendship and cooperation with the African countries.

President Mbasogo said he was pleased with his country's progressive relations with the UAE, adding that Equatorial Guinea was looking forward to benefiting from the UAE's experience in fields of development.

Also discussed were preparations for the Arab-African Summit, which will be held in Equatorial Guinea next month. Sheikh Mohamed wished the summit success in further strengthening Arab-African cooperation.

The two sides also exchanged views on current regional and international developments, as well as issues of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, Mohamed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, and Lt. General Juma Ahmed Al Bowardi, Advisor to the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

It was also attended by members of a high level delegation accompanying the President of Equatorial Guinea.
