Mohamed, Mauritanian President hold talks

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz of Mauritania, on Sunday discussed fraternal relations as well as regional and international issues of common concern.

The talks took place after Sheikh Mohamed received the Mauritanian President and members of his delegation.

Sheikh Mohamed expressed hope that President Ould Abdel Aziz's visit would contribute to enhancing cooperation, coordination and bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.

During their meeting, the pair examined ways of promoting cooperation and fraternal political, economic and developmental relations between their two countries.

They discussed Arab political and economic issues as well as coordination about the crises in Libya, Syria, Iraq and Yemen, as well as acts of violence and terrorism threatening security and stability in the countries of the region.

They also discussed the overall regional and international developments and exchanged views about issues of common concern.

Sheikh Mohamed stressed the UAE, led by the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, works towards bolstering pan-Arab solidarity and is intensifying coordination and consultations with other Arab countries about issues and challenges facing the region.

He noted that the UAE takes keen interest in consolidating relations with Mauritania based on fraternal cooperation and mutual interests to serve the peoples of the two countries.

President Ould Abdel Aziz expressed his delight at visiting the UAE, which he praised for supporting pan-Arab issues.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides stressed that the UAE and Mauritania take great interest in further promoting their existing relations to higher levels in various spheres.

They also underlined the importance of consultation, cooperation and coordination between the two countries for bolstering their stances through exchanging visits and communications to enhance Arab solidarity and cooperation about common issues and challenges.

In attendance were Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Security Council; Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court; Major-General Lt. General Juma Ahmed Al Bowardi Al Falasi, Adviser to the Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Force, along with a number of officials.

Mauritanian Minister of Finance, Mokhtar Ould Diay; Minister Ahmed Bahey, Director of the President's Office, Sidi Mohammed Hanan, Ambassador to the UAE, and others were also present.
