Mohamed receives Pope Twadharos II

General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday received in his Majlis at Al Bahr Palace Pope Twadharos II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of Saint Mark Episcopate, who is currently visiting the UAE.

The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi welcomed Pope Twadharos II to the UAE.

During the meeting, General Mohamed and and Pope Twadharos discussed the fraternal relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them in the best interest of two countries and peoples.

The two sides exchanged cordial views on the distinguished relations between the UAE and Egypt, referring to the political, social and economic relations, which contribute to the stability and development of Egypt.

General Mohamed underlined the firm policy outlined by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in backing Egypt and its people - the policy based on fraternity, mutual respect, genuine love and cooperation, adding that "this attitude is not new and will not stop, as it is sustained by the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan."

He noted that the UAE supports all Egyptians without discrimination, and backs their national aspirations to build a new and tolerant Egypt afar from extremism and terrorism to overcome current challenges so as to pursue the development.

"The language of dialogue is capable of building bridges of for cooperation, communication, tolerance and trust building among people", he said.

Pope Twadharous hailed the UAE led by Sheikh Khalifa on backing Egypt and its people in line with the legacy outlined by the late Sheikh Zayed, adding that the relations between the two countries are strong. He referred to the development projects being implemented by the UAE in Egypt.

He also cited the care being enjoyed by the Egyptian community in general and Copts in particular in the UAE, referring to the religious tolerance in the UAE, thanks to the policies of UAE leadership. He added that the tolerance being exercised by the UAE has elevated it as an example of noble human values worldwide.

Mohamed bin Zayed receives Patriarch John X of Antioch and All East

General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received on Monday at his Majlis in Al Bahar Palace, the visiting His Beatitude John X Patriarch of Antioch and all the East and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi exchanged cordial talks with the guest and discussed with him the important role of clergymen in spreading of love and peace among religions.

General Mohamed said the UAE-led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan is following the same approach of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which highlights the moderation, tolerance and dialogue values among various sects and religions, out of the importance of communication and bolstering bonds of brotherhood, friendship, love, co-existence and peace among mankind.

His Beatitude John X Patriarch of Antioch and all the East expressed his pleasure to visit the UAE and meeting its leadership, lauding the wise approach of Sheikh Khalifa.
He also thanked Sheikh Khalifa for providing a plot of land in Mussafah area of Abu Dhabi to build the Orthodox Church on, which follows the approach of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

He added that during his meeting with the Orthodox community in the country, he felt their appreciation and love to the UAE's leadership and people, expressing their satisfaction by the religious tolerance in the country.

General Mohamed reconstitutes Emirates Foundation board

General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council has issued a resolution reconstituting the board of directors of the Emirates Foundation, chaired by Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

According to the resolutions, the following shall be members of the board: Sheikh Dhiyab bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan; Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi; Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ghurair; Abdul Rahman Mohamed Al Owais; Major-General Obaid Al Hairi Salem Al Ketbi; Mohamed Hassan Abdullah Omran; Reem Yousif Al Shemmari; Mohamed Hamad Ghanim Al Mehairi; Dr Frauke Heard-Bey and Muna Isa Saleh Al Gurg.

The board shall serve for a tenure of three renewable year.
