Today's event was the 3rd edition. The ceremony was held at the Emirates Palace in the capital, Abu Dhabi.

The Award, part of Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program (SKGEP), aims to provide federal public institutions a road map to help them improve their performance, to support a healthy economy and to unify their management practice in a balanced holistic model.

It recognises and showcases important achievements for the general benefit of all federal entities.

Sheikh Mohammed said his year's awards ceremony is dedicated  "to honour the distinguished leadership skills exhibited by the UAE President in all our ministries and federal institutions".

He congratulated all the winners and distinguished staff at the public institutions and individuals who had exerted their efforts to upgrade the level of services.

"The top achievers are tomorrow's leaders. Our future is promising because of them, as they will build our country," said Sheikh Mohammed.

He added that “eight years ago when I became head of the Cabinet, some were sceptical about the ability of federal government to develop the country.
