Mohammed meets DHA management, staff

Sheikh Mohammed met DHA chairman, board members and medical, technical and administrative staff at Zabeel Palace (WAM)

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met the Chairman, board members and medical, technical and administrative staff of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) at Zabeel Palace on Tuesday evening.
 
During the audience, attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed exchanged greetings with DHA management and staff on the occasion of the last 10 days of Ramadan.
 
Sheikh Mohammed emphasised the importance of focusing on research and development as a means to upgrade the quality of DHA hospitals and the need to discover appropriate treatment for incurable diseases and improving healthcare standards, especially for patients with chronic diseases.
 
He directed DHA Chairman Humaid bin Mohammed Al Qattami to provide adequate training to Emirati healthcare staff at the authority's hospitals and to adopt proper succession plans to build a new generation of specialists.
 
Sheikh Mohammed also highlighted the necessity to inculcate the culture of early detection of diseases and to spread awareness among the community on the impact of early and positive approach in curing and managing chronic diseases.
 
He underlined the efficiency of the DHA's staff and expressed his unlimited support to developing such staff according to international standards.
 
"We focus on people's safety, health and staying abreast of the latest techniques in medical and healthcare fields which are crucial to our development process and for building a modern and robust nation," he added.
 
Al Qattami thanked Sheikh Mohammed for his continuous support to the DHA and to its development strategy.
 
Present were Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of Dubai Protocol and Hospitality Department, hospital directors, doctors and DHA officials.
 
Sheikh Mohammed hosted an iftar banquet for the guests.
 
Sheikha Fatima International Holy Quran contest for girls
 
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the establishment of the Sheikha Fatima International Holy Quran Contest for girls in recognition of  the unlimited humanitarian and charitable initiatives made by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, both locally and internationally.
 
This was announced by Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha, Dubai Ruler's Advisor for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs, during his speech at the final ceremony of Dubai International Holy Quran Award on Tuesday evening.
 
Sheikha Fatima Islamic Personality of the Year
 
Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, attended on Tuesday evening the final ceremony of the 19th Dubai International Holy Quran Award.
 
During the ceremony, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, was honoured as the Islamic Personality of the Year on the award's 19th session.
 
Sheikh Dhiyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received the award on behalf of Sheikha Fatima from Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
 
Sheikh Ahmed also honoured the winner of this year's Holy Quran recitation award - Faisal bin Mohammed Al Harthy from Saudi Arabia.
