Mohammed presents Excellence Awards

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, honoured the winners of the 17th edition of Dubai Government Excellence Awards (DGEA) in a ceremony held on Tuesday morning at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The event was attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director General of the Court of Ruler of Dubai, Lt. General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, Juma Al Majid, Chairman of the Juma Centre for Culture and Heritage, heads of departments in Dubai and other dignitaries.

After watching a 3D animation video chronicling the most important achievements between the 16th- 17th editions of the DGEP, Sheikh Mohammed honoured the winners of all categories of the DGEP.

The General Headquarters of Dubai Police, Road and Transport Authority  (RTA) in Dubai won the lion's share in the awards, followed by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) and Dubai Municipality.  The four won the awards at the categories of work teams and individual level.  

Meanwhile, Mohammed Ali Ateeq Majid Al Marri from the General Headquarters of Dubai Police won the award of category of distinguished new employee, while woman distinguished employee award was won by Luluwa Yousif Al Asmakh from the RTA. Employee Saeed Suhail Butti Al Ayali of the General Headquarters of Dubai Police won the award of distinguished employee in the field, while Fouad Ali of the General Headquarters of Dubai Police and Dina Mohammed Abdul Al of the Dubai Health Authority won the distinguished employee awards in the specialised posts.

Speaking on the occasion Sheikh Mohammad said, "We honour our nation when we honour those who serve it to give its citizens abundantly without limits. Our nation is worthy of honour, sacrifice and loyalty by providing it with further cultural and human accomplishments as well as maintaining its national gains and raising its status in a race towards the first place globally." 

The honoured include the distinguished new employee, distinguished female employee, category of distinguished employee in a specialist role, distinguished technical and engineering employee, distinguished administrative and financial employee, distinguished government employee, distinguished technical project, distinguished field initiative, distinguished team performance, distinguished joint government project category, distinguished eGovernment category, best customer satisfaction and best in innovative employees besides unsung heroes and other categories.

Dubai Media Incorporation was accorded a special honour for its outstanding cooperation with the programme by highlighting it in the media. The Hamdan Bin Mohammad Smart University was also accorded a special honour for hosting the programme’s various events and activities as well as for providing logistical support.

Sheikh Mohammad also honoured 15 winners who were given special attention in recognition of the outstanding services they provide to the public.

At the end of the ceremony, Sheikh Mohammad congratulated the winners, including government bodies, employees and work teams who deserved the honour for their sincere efforts. "We encourage the winners and praise their faithfulness and dedication in the creative national work."
