In his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has issued Decree No (17) of 2015 forming the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA).

Pursuant to the Decree, RTA’s Director General will chair the Board of Executive Directors, which is composed of the chief executive officers of Traffic and Roads Agency, Public Transport Agency, Rail Agency, Licensing Agency, Strategy and Corporate Governance, Corporate Technical Support Services and Corporate Administrative Support Services.

The Decree authorises RTA’s Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors to add new members from RTA’s employees to the Board.

This Decree amends Law No (17) of 2005 on the establishment of Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority. It also aims to institutionalise the membership of RTA’s Board of Executive Directors based on RTA’s organisation structure.

This Decree is valid from date of issuance and to be published in the Official Gazette.

Mohammed amends law on Dubai's RTA

In his capacity as Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, has issued Law No. 15 of 2015 partially amending Law No. 17 of 2005 on the establishment of Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA).

The new Law substitutes the title of 'Chief Executive Officer' with 'Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors' and further substitutes the term 'Board' with the term 'Board of Directors' wherever they may appear in Law No. 17 of 2005 and/or any other legislation came into force in the emirate of Dubai.

Law No. 15 of 2015 also amends Article No. 9 of Law No. 17 of 2005 to read as follow: "The Road and Transport Authority constitute a Board of Directors that is composed of the Director-General and RTA’s executive directors that will be appointed pursuant to a decree by His Highness the Ruler".

The new Law aims to create unity and synchronisation between the Law on the establishment of Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority and other relevant legislations applied in Dubai, in addition to enhancing the administrative work in RTA and its subsidiaries.
