Hazy, dusty weather to continue

Mercury would continue to hover around a maximum of 48 degree Celsius even as hot Southerly winds kick up dust across much of the country.

Haze and dust reduced visibility levels drastically Sunday morning and according to National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) would continue to remain same for the next two days.

The maximum temperature Sunday jumped two degrees above average to 48.1 degree Celsius in the Yasat Island, near Sila in the western region of Abu Dhabi Emirate. According to NCMS forecast, the maximum temperatures in much of the western coastal region will hover around 46 with a relative humidity between 60 to 90 per cent, while the internal regions will see the mercury reach in access of 48 degree Celsius.

However, temperature in the mountainous north and east would remain under 35 degree Celsius with a maximum humidity of 25 per cent.

The winds which are expected to turn northeasterly Monday after are expected to trigger rough sea conditions and met officials have urged caution for the seafarers.
