An Egyptian driver, who molested a woman inside her home and left after she scared him, came the following day to repeat his crime. Unfortunately for him, he was arrested by the police.

HM, 36,  allegedly knocked at a Filipina’s flat pretending to be an electrician. At around 11am on September 22, the 21-year-old AS, saleswoman, heard the doorbell ring while she was alone at home.

She testified: “I opened the door and a man who was standing at the doorstep told me that he was assigned by the building management to check the electricity. I allowed him in and so he locked the door as the key was on it. He switched off the main power switch… and started talking rudely and started admiring my physical attributes and praising his masculine capability.

"I interrupted him and asked him to leave the flat but he did not. I threatened him that my brother would be home soon. He responded by groping me and kissing my hand and made an indecent proposition.

"I pushed him and rushed to the balcony. He got scared and left the flat.”

When her brother came in, the woman told him about the attacker. The brother told his mother who decided to complain to the police. The girl told her mother that she did not know the attacker’s identity.

On the following day, AS was again alone in the house when she heard the doorbell ring. She peeped from the magnifier lens and saw the accused standing at the doorstep but did not open the door this time. Instead she called her mother who notified the watchman and asked him to catch him until police arrives.

Police rushed to the apartment and arrested HM who denied coming a day before and molesting the woman. Policemen took the man up to the flat and the victim recognized him.

The watchman who went up to the flat to catch the accused upon the mother’s request told policemen that the accused tried to run away when he saw him.

The accused is being prosecuted for molestation. The Court will reconvene in November.
