Man falls out with wife, tries to send brother to jail

A Kuwaiti husband who tried in vain to bring his rebelling wife back home went to the police and told them her brother raped a Filipina housemaid at their house, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Police arrested the presumed rapist, a citizen from another Gulf country, and sent him to court, which later acquitted him.

His defence lawyer told court that the Gulf man’s brother in law tried to set him up after a heated argument with his family following a decision by his wife to leave home and file for divorce.

“The Kuwait man went to his wife’s family house and tried to bring her back home by force…but he was kicked out by her brother,” the Arabic language daily Alanba said.

“He then threatened her brother and told him he would be sorry….the court acquitted the Gulf man after the housemaid said she had no knowledge about any rape.”
