Mother kills 6-year-old daughter for bed-wetting

Colombo – The Sri Lankan Police have said that a mother has been arrested for assaulting and killing her six-year-old daughter after she wet her bed and soiled other areas in the house, ‘Lankadeepa’ has reported.

The victim has been identified as, Fathima Sakiya (6), a resident of Garden 100 at Nagahamulla in Wellampitiya.

The girl used to urinate in the house frequently and the angry mother finally gripped her by the neck so hard, that the girl fell to the ground dead.

The mother rushed the daughter to the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital believed she had fallen unconscious. The doctors reported she was dead on arrival.

Police suspected the mother after they found marks on both sides of her neck. Police also took the statement of the woman’s two year-old son, who said his sister’s neck was gripped by their mother and that there were burn marks on the victim.
