A five-day-old baby and her mother were kicked off a Tigerair flight at Melbourne Airport in Australia. The reason? The infant was 'too young to fly'.

The mother of the child told the media that she had booked all the tickets with their actual birth dates and she had managed to book the tickets online.

The family even boarded the flight successfully. It was only at that point that the crew members realised that her child was less than a week old and they ordered the woman and her child off the flight.

The woman complained later that the crew members surrounded her and yelled at her as if she had done something criminal.

The mom and baby were forced to spend five hours on the airport floor while the airline tried to put the duo in a hotel room. Meanwhile, the baby was fast running out of fresh nappies, wipes and food.

Meanwhile, international guidelines state that children are fine to travel 48 hours after birth, but that seven days is preferable.

The airline took responsibility for the blunder.
